Fairy Forts [duchas:4746834]
There is one fairy fort in this district, in the townland of Ashfort. It is circular in shape. There is a fence of earth all round. There is no entrance. A woman in the district sent her children to pick flowers there. When the children came home they left the flowers on the table. A big gush of wind came down the chimney. The flowers were scattered about, so she gathered the flowers and threw them out. Lights have often been seen in the fort. Ashfort is in the parish of Aughrim, County Roscommon.
