Abstract: A collection of folklore and local history stories from Sessiagh Uí Néill (school) (Sessiagh (O'Neill), Co. Donegal), collected as part of the Schools' Folklore Scheme, 1937-1938 under the supervision of teacher Liam Mac Meanman.

  1. About fifty years ago it is said a certain field on Carrickmagrath was ploughed and the trees around it were cut. (p. 99)
  2. There is a very old tree in Carrickmagrath. (p. 100)
  3. A long time ago a man had a field of potatoes and he had them pitted. (p. 101)
  4. Stones were drawn from Dunwiley Quarry to St Mary's Church. (p. 102)
  5. One time there was a woman and a small woman came into her for the loan of a bowl of oat-meal and she gave it to her. (p. 103)
  6. Once upon a time there was a man coming from Donegal as he was passing a bridge a woman stepped out in front of him and asked him would she bring him home and he said he would walk home. (p. 104)
  7. Once upon a time the fairies stole a woman's baby and left another one in its place. (p. 105)
  8. Once upon a time a man was coming from Gortahork fair. (p. 106)
  9. Once upon a time there was a man going to Donegal. (p. 107)
  10. Once upon a time there was a woman and man the kept three cows. (p. 108)
  11. Once upon a time there were two brothers Mick and John. (p. 109)
  12. Once upon a time there was a man coming along a road in Glenfin it was twelve o clock a night. (p. 110)
  13. Once upon a time a man was told that there were some gold hid in a forth near Meenglass, and it was marked with a cross, and some of the people thought it was a grave. (p. 111-113)
  14. Along time ago there lived a man by himself in Meenbane. (p. 114)
  15. Once upon a time there were two boys out hunting. (p. 115)
  16. Long ago there were two brothers living near each other in Glenfinn. Owen and John the called them. (p. 116-119)
  17. One night a man was coming from Letterkenny he bought a horse at the fair and when he was coming home at Meenaroy the horse began to fling he began to beat the horse. (p. 120-121)
  18. One day a man was out hunting with two dogs and two ferrets. (p. 122)
  19. About fifty years ago a great lot of people thought there was a small house built in Meenglass wood. (p. 123)
  20. Almost twenty or thirty years ago a man who was living in Meenglass was ploughing a field. (p. 124)
  21. Sixty years ago there was an old fort near to Carrickmagrath. (p. 125)
  22. A man who lived in Goland was going round his fields in which he had corn growing. (p. 126)
  23. Once upon a time there was going to be built in Stranorlar. They were getting stones from Dunwiley quarry to build it. (p. 127)
  24. A few years ago a man was coming from Glenties harvest fair. (p. 128)
  25. About seventy five years ago a woman appeared on the Tyrone mountains she wore a blue dress what colour of a hat she wore was not known one moment it was blue or green or some other colour. (p. 129-130)
  26. About seventy years ago a man who lived in Meenbane along with his wife. One night about two o clock there came a knock to the door. (p. 131)
  27. There is a tree at the Crossroads Barnes Rd and there is a large hole bored in the trunk. (p. 132)
  28. There is a large tree in townland of Cavan, Killygordan. This large tree has seven large trees surrounding it. (p. 133)
