Superstitions
1 If you rob a swallows nest your cow will milk blood for one year.
2 If you tie a special piece of wood around a babys neck when it is born the fairies wont take it away.
3 If two pigeons are seen fighting it is a sign that somebody will die.
4 If you see a black cat crossing the road you are lucky.
5 If you see a white cat you will be unlucky.
6 If you meet a red-haired person you will be unlucky.
7 If you break a looking glass you will have bad-luck for seven years.
8 If you see a black-horse walking across the road you will be unlucky.
9 If you send salt to the bog you are not to bring it back again.
10 If you sea see a magpie going away from you your bad luck is going away.
11 If you see a magpie coming towards you your bad luck is coming.
12 If you see one magpie you will be unlucky.

13 When midges bite.
14 If a cat washes over her ears it is lucky
15 For a hare to cross your path it is lucky
16 To sleep with your head to the north  it is lucky.
17 It is lucky to spill ink on a stamp.
18 It is lucky to find a spider on your coat.
19 It is lucky to find a piece of white heather in the mountains.
20 It is unlucky to throw salt in the fire.
21 It is unlucky to walk under a ladder.

If one meets a funeral unexpectedly he should turn back a little way.
It is unlucky to marry in May or on a Friday or Saturday
