Scope and Content
This research project created a complete catalogue for the Irish Builder and Engineer from January 1890 to December 1914. The catalogue has been created in excel and lists every single item within each issue, including full cataloguing information such as title, authors, type of article, page references, locations at which the journals may be sourced and so on. The Irish Builder and Engineer is held in the UCD Library, the National Library of Ireland, the Irish Architectural Archive, and in Dublin City Archives
The items in each issue were listed sequentially, working from 1890 through to 1914. For each item the catalogue gives the date, volume, issue number, item/article title, author(s)/illustrator(s), and page number(s). It also notes whether or not the item was illustrated, provides a "category" field to indicate the item type, and gives the location references for UCD microfiche holdings, UCD hardcopy holdings and National Library of Ireland (NLI) microfiche holdings. There is also a field for notes, which will assist researchers by giving information on supplements and illustrations which may be missing or bound with another issue. The catalogue is presented in four parts (1890-1899, 1900-1903, 1904-1908, and 1909-1914) and drop-down filters are available on each one so that researchers can search under specific headings or under multiple headings as required.
