Scope and Content
The collection will consist of a selection of early printed books from the UCD Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Institute for the Study of Irish History and Civilisation. Currently, the 17th century 'Acta Sanctorum Hiberniae' is included. Other material will be added in future.
The Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Institute is a joint venture between the Franciscan Order in Ireland and University College Dublin established under the terms of a formal legal agreement in 2000 and managed by the UCD-OFM Partnership Management Committee. The funding of the Institute to date has been totally based on generous private donations.
The aim of the Institute is to continue the tradition of research in the field of Irish history begun by the Franciscan Order in the seventeenth century. The primary focus of its activities is the Franciscan collection of manuscripts and books currently housed in Dún Mhuire in Killiney, Co. Dublin and which under the terms of the legal agreement will in future be managed in the UCD Archives.
