A Little Shop - Stations [duchas:5043181]
In a little house in Ardkill (referred to at No 2 Ruined Houses of Ardkill) there was a shop. Tea was sold in ounces and half-ounces and sugar in pounds. Meal and flour were sold in quarter-stones, half stones and stones. Large loaves were bought for four-pence. Large loaves were bought on "the day of the hayrick", at Christmas, and for the "Station". The "Stations" were held in country houses at Easter-time and Christmas-time. The priest came to a house selected; the neighbours came in from the surrounding town-lands. Confessions were heard and Mass said. All those present received Holy Communion. After-wards all got breakfast.
