17.  Famine period:-
           Famine worked dreadful havoc in this district. Several people were got dead on roads. Men went from house to house seeking work and gladly worked for 1d a day wages and a little food.

18.    Local estates:- Lands of Laragh and part of Cornacarrow were owned by a Landlord who lived in Keady a Mr. Kirke. Property was bought from him by Mc Kean who was the last Landlord.
      2.
        Townlands of Coas, Laggan, Carrickaduff and Benmore constituted what was known as the Dacre Hamilton estate. Dacre Hamilton sold the Estate to the Government in 1908.

30.    An iron candlestick made by a blacksmith, about two feet high, which used sit on floor and had a socket at top in which candle sat used to be largely used.
      Some of these candlesticks had a branch lower down and a socket in same for a second candle.
