The House and Things Relative to the House [duchas:4389053]
(1). Rush candels [sic] were used to light houses. They were usually made in any house. Later they were made in the house now owned by J. A. Grehan of Castle Street, Ballyshannon. (2). A “nogger” was an instrument used by butter-buyers. They dipped it in the Butter and tasted the butter on it. If the butter was good they bought it and exported it.
