Tá sé tímcheall deich mbliana agus ceithre fichid ó shoin ó bhí an droch shaoghal ann. Is minic a chloiseadh mo mháthair críona a hathair ag cur síos ar an droch-shaoghal agus an t-annró a rug ar mhuinntir ar h-Éireann an fúair sin.

Ní raibh aon rud lé nithe acu. Na daoine go mbíodh turnapaí aca bhídis á nithe  ach na daoine na bíodh do chailltí láithreach iad. Do bhíodh

a thuille aca ag dul an Daingean annso tímcheall agus cliabh móna aca 'a' dhíol agus gan lé fágáil aca air ach dhá phingin. Da gairid lé dul ortha an meid sin chun aon rud a thabhairt abhaile. 

Bhí aon fhear amháin dárb ainm Aodh Ó Conchúbhair agus d'imthig sé an Daingean lé cliabh móna. Ní raibh sé thar barra an Mháma núair a bhúail an t-ocras agus an luigídheacht é agus cailleadh annsan é.
