Riddle Riddle Ree, Such a riddle could not be, Through a rock, through a reel, Through a horse’s shin bone, Though the town of Garrowen, Riddle me that and leave me alone. Ans: A flash of lightning. ’Tis here, ’tis there, ’tis everywhere, ’Tis over in castle garden, It takes a bite as big as an ass, And never swallows it after. Ans: A scythe. eat, ’Twas neither fish, flesh, feather or bone. Riddle me that and leave me alone. Ans: An egg. Ready in the morning, I drank at a spring. Round was the cup, And gold was the ring. Through iron bars, And cold stone walls. If you riddle me that, I am condemned. Ans: A drink from his mother’s breast through the iron bars. As I went out my gable window I saw the dead carrying the live. Ans: A train. Bessey inside the ditch, Bessey outside the ditch, And if you touch Bessey, She will pinch you. Ans: A nettle.
