Stage-Coach Days [duchas:4859843]

The coach rout from Cork to Dublin ran through Templemore. (Bianconi stage coaches). A change of horses used be got of O'Connell's Hotel (now Hickeys) in the Main Street. The stables for the horses were at the back of the houses adjoining the hotel.

It is the custom in Templemore and district for young people - boys and girls - to go around in groups. They do be fantastically dressed and usually supply music (on the mouth organ) It is not well organised and appears to be dying out.
