The new line and the Kerry road are the names of the roads in Rylane. There are also old roads in the district, these are "Poirsin na geapall" which leads from Rylane to Kilcullen,

and the Board of Work road also leading from Rylane to Kilcullen. In east Rylane there is another old road which serves a passage to "Moin-a-tsagairt". All the old roads are still used except the Board of Work road already mentioned. It is unknown when Poirsin na geapall was made, but the Board of Work road was made during the famine times. From Glounaglough to Rylane there is an old path. Some people of Glounaglough walk on this path while coming to Mass, as it is a great near way. There is a mountain pass from Tureen to Barr an Cartainn. Long ago people assembled at cross-roads and had dancing there on Sundays.
