Abstract: A collection of folklore and local history stories from Losad (school) (Losset, Co. Donegal), collected as part of the Schools' Folklore Scheme, 1937-1938 under the supervision of teacher Úna Bean Uí Laoghaire.

  22. On one occasion a woman was coming from visiting a friend's house. She was passing Menbanon Bridge (which is three miles from our school) and saw gold sovereigns lying on the road. (p. 294)

  32. There lived in Derryveagh a man named O Donnell who was considered a great pikes man. The pike was commonly used as a weapon in those days and it was considered a great offence for a man to own one. (p. 308)
  33. Now on an island in Gartan lake Godfrey O Donnell spent a year in retirement dying from wounds he received at the battle of Credrean Hill near Sligo. (p. 309)
  34. In the vicinity of Lough Salt two wolves roamed about. The people say that they could change themselves into human beings at will. (p. 310-311)
  35. The people in some localities are very superstitious. Now I often heard my people at home telling of others they knew who would not lace one shoe before putting on the other for fear of St. Colmcille's curse. (p. 312)
