Question Why are artists like washerwomen?
Answer. Because they are not satisfied until their works are " hung on the line".
Q. What is the difference between a bottle and a troublesome boy?
A. One is to be well shaken before taken, and the other to be taken and then shaken.
Q. Why may a beggar wear a very short coat?
A. Because it will be long enough before he gets another.
Q. Which has the hardest life of it coffee or tea?
A. Tea, for while coffee can settle down, tea is compelled to draw.
Q. An old woman in a red cloak was crossing a field in which a goat was feeding; what strange transformation suddenly took place?
A. The goat turned to butter, and the woman became a " scarlet runner".
Q. What word of three syllables specifies the time

A. At-ten-dance.
Q. Why is a man just imprisoned like a boat full of water?
A. Because he requires bailing out.
Q. Why are fishermen and shepherds like beggars?
A. Because they live by hook or by crook.

A. The steeplejack.
Q. What has four fingers and a thumb but does cannot hold an apple.
A. A glove.
Q. Why does a miller wear a white cap?
A.  To cover his head.
Q.  Give it butter it will cry, give it water it will die? A. A fire
Q. It is black and white and hops on the ground like hailstones?
A. A magpie.
Q. What side of the cup is the handle on?
A. The outside.
Q. What's the difference between a elephant with a toothache and a rainy day
A. One is roaring with pain and the other is pouring with rain.
