Hidden Treasure [duchas:5058761]
Hidden Treasure 9th November, 1937 I live in the townland of Enaughan. Nearhand where I live stands the ruins of an old castle known as the castle of Enaughan. the old people tell us that there is a hidden treasure under this castle. I often heard my grandfather tell of a man who dreamed three nights successfully of the exact spot along the castle where the treasure was and what he would have to do to get it. The first thing he would have to do was to get the heart of a lamb and drag it three times around the place. The next thing he would have to do was to get a gun and make a

bullet of a crooked sixpence to shoot a black cat that was sitting on the box in which the treasure was. Then another man said he would go with him. So they started off one night to look for the treasure. They started to dig and they were not long digging until they came to a cellar. They entered and there they saw a cat with big blazing eyes sitting on the box which the treasure was in. When they saw the cat they fainted and when they came to the cat and treasure had disappeared. So ever since no one interfered with the castle. Told by John Reilly R.I.P. who died in 1929 aged 82 years. Enaughan, Arva, Co. Cavan. Written by Michael Reilly Enaughan, Arva, Co. Cavan.
