Note
Between 1664 and 1666, the Sacred Congregation de Propaganda Fide compiled a catalogue of suitable candidates for the Irish Catholic bishoprics then vacant. In June 1666, a national synod was held in Dublin debate the Remonstrance or Protestation of Loyalty to the king. In the same year the Irish Friars Minor held their provincial chapter. See Benignus Millett, The Irish Franciscans, 1651-1665 (Rome, 1964), pp xxi-xviii, 347-348, 527-530.
