A selection of photographs from this collection were originally published as part of the Domestic Architecture of Georgian Dublin and Civic and Ecclesiastical Architecture of Georgian Dublin collections.
Scope and content: The photographs presented here constitute a selection from the School of Art History’s slide collection devoted to Irish architecture. Originally produced by staff members in response to pedagogical needs, this collection includes images of the civic, ecclesiastical, and domestic architecture Dublin. The collection features images of significant buildings, houses, and decorative interiors throughout the city, with a particular focus on views of the city’s Georgian fabric. Photographed between 1978–2005, the present selection also documents patterns of urban redevelopment, the changing nature of historic conservation, and the evolving built environment.
Credits: The photographers for this collection were Christine Casey, Gerry Hayden, John O'Grady, and Alistair John Rowan. The details of which photographer took each individual image are not available. The collection was compiled by Carla Briggs and Conor Lucey, UCD School of Art History and Cultural Policy. Descriptions of the images were provided by Conor Lucey.
