Good condition. NO These two men were among the last surviving speakers of Manx. In 1948 the Commission organised a field-trip to the Isle of Man in order to record the last surviving native speakers. The recording van was originally bought for the trip (see photograph no. 5). The recordings made in the Isle of man are now in the Department of Irish Folklore. The field-trip was organised at the instigation of Éamon de Valera who has visited Edward Maddrell in 1947.
