Chiarraí (Éire) / Blasket Islands, Co. Kerry (Ireland) NO 152 I gCuimhne na nDaoine. Negative is very soft and old. NO The Blasket Islands experienced a remarkable upsurge of literary activity from the 1920's onwards, and Tomás Ó Criomhthain is one of the best-know authors to emerge from that period. His book An tOileánach (Baile Átha Cliath, 1929) has been translated into many languages. He also wrote Allagar na hInise (Baile Átha Cliath, 1928) and Dinnseanchas na mBlascaodaí (Baile Átha Cliath, 1928). He was visited over the years by many scholars from both home and abroad who had an interest in the Irish language. Among these were Robin Flower, Kenneth Jackson and Carl Marstrander, and much of the correspondence between Flower and Ó Criomhthain is now in the Department of Irish Folklore.
