The handwritten note under the illustration reads 'Aneurism. Anastomosis – John Bell – Cylindroid Aneurism of [??]'. The handwritten note on the back reads 'A drawing by Templeton of a corroded preparation of a pulsating aneurismal(sic) by anastomosis – the aneurismal(sic) tumour was injected by Shekleton with wax, and afterwards the [?] part was corroded & placed under glass in the museum of the R. College of Surgeons – the wax has long since mouldered into dust, but the aneurismal drawing remains, it has been magnified and I believe imitated by Connolly – as I wished to exhibit it as the meeting of the British Association meeting at Dublin 1835'.
