On insurance certificates

A collection of material relating to Kevin Barry, who was executed for his part in the killing of three British soldiers in 1920. The collection includes material associated with his days at Belvedere College, his year as a medical student in UCD, and his brief time in custody at Mountjoy Prison before execution. The majority of the collection is composed of material gathered by Kathy Barry Maloney, Barry's sister, after his death.

Two certificates from the Intermediate Education Board Junior Grade (1917), and Middle Grade (1918), awarded to Barry for subjects passed in the relevant examinations which include, English, Latin, History, French, Irish, Arithmetic, Geometry, Experimental Science and Trigonometry.

Certificate entering Barry's name in the Register of Medical students for Ireland, issued by the Medical Registration Office, Dawson Street, Dublin, signed by Richard J E Roe, Registrar.

Diploma in Latin awarded to Barry for participation in a sodality retreat to the Blessed Virgin Mary, run by the Belvedere Jesuits, and signed by Joanes Fahy SJ, P Hurley and D O'Connor.

UCD News was an internal, informal publication published initially by the Information Officer and later by the Office of Public Affairs for the staff and students of University College Dublin. It's aim was to be an informal news magazine rather than an official publication and a typical issue included general news and notices from around the University, news from clubs and societies, correspondence, and appointments.
