The word BUAILE occurs in the name of this half-parish viz. buaile Mhaodhóg.

It also occurs in the name of a townland in the half-parish - TomnaBOLEY.

About four miles away and near the village of Ballycanew is BOLey hill.

The townland name Tomnaboley is sometimes called Tub-naboley. (so pronounced).
