Abstract: A collection of folklore and local history stories from Cnoc Uí Faith (Belmont) (school) (Belmont, Co. Galway), collected as part of the Schools' Folklore Scheme, 1937-1938 under the supervision of teacher Micheál Ó Gnímh.

  13. Long ago the old people used to have a lot of sayings about certain days of the year what is right to do and what is not right to do, for instance, New Year's Day, it is not right to put out any ashes or to go a visiting. (p. 311)
  14. Long ago it was on Saint Stephen's day the people used to begin ploughing the land if they would only plough two scrapes that day. (p. 312)
  15. Long ago boxty was the staple food of the people. (p. 313)
