A number of civilians (and a tram driver?) looking at the remains of a burned out tram. The caption reads ‘Patrick Street, Cork, Monday morning after burning' (by Auxiliaries and Black and Tans on 11 December 1920?). Premises in background include James Mangan Ltd, Tivoli Restaurant and a tobacconist's shop. One little boy is smiling broadly at the camera.

Photograph of two trucks passing by a barricade on a bridge over a river; both trucks are carrying Irish Free State Army soldiers although the lead truck contains at least one civilian and household furniture; a group of soldiers and civilians standing beside the bridge are watching the progress of the first truck which is being driven cautiously; a pony and trap is waiting behind the blockade, presumably to follow the trucks.

The two photographs have some differences in detail. The man is viewing the gutted interior of very badly damaged buildings, possibly in the vicinity of the GPO, the parapet of which may just be visible. The foreground is a mass of twisted girders, and a long ladder is resting on part of the building.
