Abstract: Watercolour medical illustration depicting cancer of the stomach. It has the alternative reference number 1625, 65 and P3A on the front. The Richmond Hospital Museum reference is B.b.22. The entry for this in P263/1 pg. 13 reads 'Cancer of the stomach at the cardiac orifice. Mary Symes aet 67'. The artist's name is in the bottom right corner 'J. Connolly Del.t'. The handwritten note on the back reads 'Cerebriform tumour at the cardiac orifice of the stomach. For three months before her admission into the Whitworth Hospital, the woman had the symptoms of stricture of the oesophagus. She had constant lancinating pain near the [?] of the cardiac orifice & along the course of the oesophagus, attempts to swallow were at once followed by vomiting.
