Máire Ní Mhurchadha [duchas:4801879]

Almost sixty years ago a woman lived in Eyeries Beg by the name of Maire Ni Murcada. It was said she was in the fairies. At the same time a man lived in Ardgroom and his wife was sick for a long time and Maire Ni Murcada told him that it was not his wife was in bed, but she was over in Kerry, and to go over some night of the week and stay in a certain place until he would see a number of horses passing and that he would see his wife on the second horse sitting behind the rider and to grab her the first time and if he should fail he would not see her any more. The man got a crew of six men and they went over in a boat to Kerry and he watched the horses coming and he knew his wife. He took her off the horse, and they went quickly to the shore and rowed as fast as they could. He brought his wife home and they lived a long time after. When they reached home the other woman was left.

Father O Reilly was to Kilcatherine on a sick call. It was late in the night when he was coming back. He fell off the horse, and he was badly hurt. He was brought into a house in Baffocil. The woman of the house bandaged his wounds. He came back to Eyeries.
Some day afterwards Maire Ni Murcada met him and she told him that he would get killed that night only for herself. About sixty years ago Maire Ni Murcada was going away with the fairies for a long time. She used to tell alot of stories about what she used see.
