Marriage Customs [duchas:4382919]

Marriage Customs
Long, long ago people used to be married in the house and there would be a great feast all the night. After the marriage the husband would buy a livery for his wife. The livery consisted of a dress and a paisley shawl and a bonnet and veil. If anyone was married in the church the marriage would not take place until eight o’clock in the evening. When they would go home there would be a great dance in the barn.
