When Tea Was Introduced First [duchas:4371478]

Long ago a ship was wrecked out in Rathfran Bay with a cargo of tea. Some time afterwards the ship was blown in at Steclaun. They village people found a cargo of black and brown grains. They divided it among themselves and a few others.

They did not know what it was or how to use it. But they thought it was something to eat. So they boiled the grains on water and when it was boiled they threw away the water and eat the leaves.

A tailor came to the district and he was lodged in my grandfathers house Breaslagh. So he heard how

they were making the tea and he told them to drink the water and throw away the leaves. So this way tea was introduced in this district first.
