for money and sometimes for food. People refuse him to give him money because when he gets some he buys drink.

He hase [sic] been coming to this district for eight years or so. He is not very poor because he wears good clothes and shoes.

Mr Garvey is a poor traveller and he goes about alone. He often calls to this district and he asks for food. When he gets it he goes away again. He sleeps in old barns and in hay. Often he sleeps by a fence in the day-time when he is tired.

He came first to this parish about twelve years ago. He is in Loughrea County Home now.
