The Mermaid [duchas:4377215]

The mermaid lives in the sea. She has a body and head like a human being. Instead of legs she has a tail like a fish. She has long curly hair. It is said that she has the faculties of speech and hearing. She is very often heard singing down in the deep and she has a very sweet voice which has often allured sailors to jump into the ocean and dive down to see her.
It is said that she has a comb , and that she often sits on the rock combing her hair. I heard that one day, there was a man walking on the seashore

and that he found the comb and that he brought it home with him. Next day, the man was at the seashore again, while he was there the mermaid put her head over the water in front of him. She said to the man, "if you will not give me back my comb immediateley you will be sorry for it." Then the man gave her the comb she disappeared again under the water.
