II This flower,it wants no Autumn shower It needs no earthly dew ‘Tis (alive) to be found at every hour It’s beauty ever new. Its tresses down both fair and brown The hearts of men to win ‘Tis the lovely flower of Feddin’s bower The Rose of Aughnabrone. III Some with swift and silky dogs Go hunting as it were Down through the bogs and gloomy glen We know what brings them there While others dwell down at the well On a Sunday afternoon To view the flower of Feddin’s bower
The Rose of Aughnabrone [duchas:5158906]
IV I pity all those foolish men And all they have gone through For if one shall pluck this lovely rose What shall the others do? Then some will weep and more will sleep In the cold and silent tomb For those who seek from week to week The Rose of Aughnabrone
