Bhí chuile dhuine dhá dhíbirt ag Naomh Brighid as an áit le na bó. Níor iarr sí ach an méid a chlúdóch a brat le h-aghaidh na bo. Dubhairt duine uasal go caithfeadh sí sin  a fhágáil. Sgar Brighid amach a brat annsin acht bhí an brath ag leathnú go raibh conndae beagnach tógtha aige. Tháinic bean mhalluidhthe agus dubhairt sí go mbeadh Éirinn ag Brighid sar i bhfad mara stopfaí an brat. Stop an bhrat annsin agus ní dheacha sé níos fuide. An bhó a bhí ag Naomh Brighid bhí an oiread bainne aice 's go líonfadh sí cuile soitheach dá driocfadh fúithí. Dubhairt an bhean malluighthe go gcuireadh sí h-éin soitheach fúithí nach líonfadh sí, agus sé an sórt soitheach a chur sí fúithí ná - criathar, agus ní raibh aon deóir de'n bhainne ag fanacht san gcriathar. Bhreathnuigh an bhó thairní, agus nuair chonnaic sí an bhainne ag imteacht na shrutháin ar an dralamh, thuit sí agus cailleadh í.
