Abstract: No. 85 St Stephen's Green now forms part of Newman House (together with No. 86 St Stephen's Green). It was built for Captain Hugh Montgomery from 1738. The decorative plasterwork is attributed to Paolo and Filippo Lafranchini. The iconography of the saloon ceiling has been interpreted as an allegory of justice and jurisprudence.
