Abstract: Watercolour medical illustration depicting cancer of the breast. It has the alternative reference number 1458, 90 and P14 on the front. The Richmond Hospital Museum reference is A.c.5. The entry for this in P263/1 pg. 9 reads 'Cancer of the breast, tumour laid open. Mary Young 35'. The artist's name is in the bottom right corner 'J. Connolly Del.t' and in the bottom left corner 'Cancer of the breast. Catalogue N12 page 649'. The handwritten note on the back reads 'Ac.2 Mary Young atet 35. Cancer of the breast. The tumour layer only existed one year, the axillary glands diseased & the centre elevated, structure [? hard & firm, the axillary glands remain attached to the tumour. It was removed, it is not known whether any returned'.
