Congenital luxation of the left hip joint

Abstract: Watercolour medical illustration depicting congenital luxation. It has the alternative reference number 1830, P13B and 147 on the front. There is no Richmond Hospital Museum reference. The artist's name is in the bottom right corner 'J. Connolly ???'. The handwritten note under the illustration reads 'Congenital Luxation of the left hip joint'. The handwritten note on the back reads 'Mr Hutton John North aet 31 an indent from infancy, died in the Richmond Hospital in 1855 of diffuse inflammation of the mucous & sub mucous tissues of the Pharynx & larynx terminating in purulent infiltration. He has a congenital luxation of the left hip joint & permanent flexion & [?] of the left hand with atrophy of three members. This drawing shows well the great length & breadth of the ligamentous [?] and the alteration in the axis of the hand a d neck of femur. Vide catalogue No. 145 & 147'. The note written sideways reads 'Hutton's case abnormal hip Todd's Cyclopaedia'.
