Gangrene of the fingers


Watercolour medical illustration depicting gangrene. It has the alternative reference number 1479 and P7A on the front. The Richmond Hospital Museum reference is B.a.18. The entry for this in P263/1 pg. 11 reads 'Spontaneous gangrene of the fingers'. The feint handwritten note in the bottom right corner reads 'Pat.k aet 45'. Includes papermakers stamp in top left corner. The handwritten note on the back reads 'In this case, gangrene of the fingers occurred, without the patient (a man about 45 aet) being able to assign any cause for it, he presented himself one morning among the extra patients, his health found good & he suffered but little pain'.
