James, Principal Keeper, on the Raids: 22 September 1920: Station raided by armed men at 11 pm on 22nd inst. 2 telescopes taken away and telephone connection smashed ; 16 May 1921: Station raided by armed men at 10 pm on 16th inst. Two bicycles, personal property, taken away ; 28 June 1921: Station raided at midnight on 27th inst. Telephone dismantled and taken away together with battery. Also batteries in connection with the Lantern taken from each of the Keepers' rooms. Warned not to contact Police. Police not informed ; 9 July 1920: Station again raided on night of 9th inst. at 11 pm when some lead was taken away.
