Domestic Architecture of Georgian Dublin Collection
Abstract: Selection of 35mm slides from the collection of the School of Art History and Cultural Policy, focusing on the domestic architecture of eighteenth-century Dublin.
The 100 photographs presented here constitute a selection from the School of Art History’s slide collection devoted to Irish architecture. Originally produced by staff members in response to pedagogical needs, this sub-set focuses on the domestic architecture of eighteenth-century Dublin and extends to images of important individual houses, significant decorative interiors, and general views of the city’s Georgian fabric. Photographed between 1978–2005, the present selection also documents patterns of urban redevelopment, the changing nature of historic conservation, and the evolving built environment.
