Three datasets of images of approximately 1 square km of land area in Dublin City in 2007. Images were captured through use of the Fugro FLI-MAP family of LiDAR systems which capture LiDAR and still camera imagery simultaneously during a fly-over survey. Each dataset includes “forward” and “mapping” imagery comprising complementary data files in ECW and SDIA formats.

Aerial laser scanning (ALS) data collected over an area of around 1 square km in Dublin city in 2007 (see satellite image). A total of ~225 million points were acquired for a dense urban neighbourhood. ALS was carried out by contractors using FLI-MAP 2 system. The system operated at a scan angle of 60 degrees, with an angular spacing of 60/1000 degrees between pulses. The FLI-MAP 2 system also provides spectral data in two different forms: (i) intensity and (ii) colour. An intensity value is provided for each point while colour information is provided by cameras acquiring images during the flyover and is transferred to scan points. The flying altitude varied between ~380-480m, with an average value of ~400m. Total 44 flight strips were acquired and 2823 flight path points were recorded, providing instantaneous aircraft position over time.

A collection of material relating to Kevin Barry, who was executed for his part in the killing of three British soldiers in 1920. The collection includes material associated with his days at Belvedere College, his year as a medical student in UCD, and his brief time in custody at Mountjoy Prison before execution. The majority of the collection is composed of material gathered by Kathy Barry Maloney, Barry's sister, after his death.

The Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) Prisoners Books for 1905-1908 and 1911-1918 are amongst the most valuable new documents to come to light on the revolutionary decade. They include important information on social and political life in the capital during the last years of the Union, from the period of widespread anticipation of Home Rule, to the advent of the 1913 Lockout, the outbreak of the First World War, the Easter Rising and its aftermath, including the conscription crisis of 1918. They will also be invaluable to those interested in criminology, genealogy, and family history.

This sub-collection consists of five volumes of essays dealing with a wide range of local folk tradition and history, written by schoolchildren in 1937-38, and drawing on information recorded from parents, relatives and neighbours living in the districts of Carna and Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

The two volumes in this collection contain hand written entries recording the details of recruits and applicants to the Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) and An Garda Síochána. The Civic Guard (Garda Síochána) Temporary Register covers the period from February 1922 to September 1924. The Dublin Metropolitan Police General Register covers the period from 1837 to 1975, although only the entries up to 1925 have been digitised and made available online for data protection reasons. The large double ledger volumes record details such as: age or date of birth; height; trade or occupation; home town; previous public service details; and pay. Details of the religion of a recruit were added to the DMP General Register from October 1858 while the Civic Guard Temporary Register recorded chest measurements as well as height and also includes reasons for the rejection of an applicant. The volumes will be of interest to those interested in genealogy and social history, as well as the history of policing in Ireland.

A collection of material related to the Easter Rising 1916 from the IBVM (Loreto) Institute & Irish Province Archives, including contemporaneous accounts of the Rising as observed by the Loreto Sisters at St Stephen’s Green Dublin and Loreto Abbey Rathfarnham. The material is collated from three separate Loreto archival collections: the community archives of Loreto Abbey Rathfarnham; Loreto College, 53 St Stephen’s Green; and M. Michael Corcoran IBVM, Superior General 1888 – 1918. The collection comprises of two manuscript community annals, a military permit, picture postcards from Loreto Abbey Rathfarnham and Loreto College, 53 St Stephen’s Green, and a typed letter from M. Michael Corcoran IBVM, Superior General 1888 – 1918.

The three volumes in this collection contain hand written entries recording the details of students registered with Our Lady of Mercy Training College Baggot Street and Carysfort training college from 1883 to 1922. The large double ledger volumes record student details, such as: home address, age, diocese and parish, position in school, and examination results. These registers will be of interest to those interested in genealogy and social history, as well as the history of education and teacher training in Ireland.

Two sets of diaries written by John and Arthur Oram, father and son, farmers and land agents in Burrishoole, County Mayo. The diaries cover the periods 1854–1907 and 1887–1919 and record the day to day management of estates, including herd management, crop management, and maintenance of the land. The diaries also frequently refer to the collection of rents from tenants. Both sets of diaries record the weather for each day and often refer to national and international events such as the 'Fenian' conspiracy, the beginning of the Land League, the 1916 Rising, and the 1918 influenza epidemic.

The Workhouse Drawings collection contains a representative sample of drawings, plans, and documents drawn from the Irish Architectural Archive's Workhouse Collection. The Workhouse Collection (reference 85/138) in the Irish Architectural Archive includes surviving drawings for workhouses built in Ireland to provide relief for the poor. Built between 1839 and 1847, the workhouses were designed in a Tudor domestic idiom by architect George Wilkinson. Occasionally drawings are accompanied by other documents including the standard printed specification or, more rarely, items of correspondence. Many are in extremely poor condition and their extreme fragility precludes public access. This online collection provides access to drawings and documents relating to the Mallow, Castleblayney, Lismore, and Gorey workhouses. The drawings for Mallow Workhouse may be considered a representative set of the surviving drawings for the Tudor style workhouses built by Wilkinson. The majority of the drawings were produced mechanically (engraved and printed). The inclusion of drawings from Castleblayney, Lismore, and Gorey, in addition to those of Mallow, ensures that this online collection includes samples of each printed drawing.

The year 1916, and the events that occurred during it, can mean multiple things to different people. By asking 'what does 1916 mean to you?', this collection explores the political, social, and cultural legacies of the year 1916 in the construction of identity and historical consciousness among people and communities across the island of Ireland, north and south. The collection consists of recorded interviews with various individuals (academics, community leaders, politicians, artists, writers and members of the public) giving their views on the significance of the events of 100 years ago, and also on the meaning of commemoration. '1916 and Me/2016 and Us' is a collaboration between University College Dublin School of History, Queen's University Belfast School of History and Anthropology, UCD Digital Library, and HistoryHub.ie, UCD's public history website. The project was funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs Reconciliation Fund, and involved the recording of a number of short interviews with people talking about what 1916 means to them during the centenary year of 2016.

Part of UCD Library's Curran Collection, most of these postcards were published in 1916 in the immediate aftermath of the Insurrection. They provide an excellent contemporary pictorial record of the damage to the city; one showing a “before and after” photograph of Sackville (O'Connell) Street. Some are reproductions of “under fire” photos taken by the Daily Sketch photographer and published by Easons. Other series were produced by Hely's and Coleman's publishers. The collection contains 37 distinct postcards (as well as duplicates) collected by Constantine Curran.

A collection of photographs from the albums of G. & T. Crampton, one of Dublin's best-known construction companies. The photographs were intended as a record of the building projects which the firm undertook rather than a formal archive. They cover a wide range of buildings including commercial buildings, shops, houses, hospitals, and factories. The projects covered by the collection include new builds, renovations, extensions, and restorations. While the firm has undertaken work throughout Ireland, the majority of the photographs are of projects in the Dublin area.

The newspaper, called ‘The Kangaroo’, was produced on board the troopship HMAT Afric, which carried men of the 1st battalion Australian Imperial Force (AIF), from its departure from Sydney on the 19th October 1914 until its arrival in Alexandria, Egypt on the 3rd December 1914. The newspaper was edited by Walter Wade, an Irish-born soldier in the AIF. This collection represents twenty-three issues of the paper, comprising of most issues published, along with variant editions and duplicates. There are gaps in the daily publication record, but this collection does have copies that are absent from other nationally significant holdings of ‘The Kangaroo’ extant in Australian libraries.

This collection of photographic prints forms part of the papers of Desmond FitzGerald (P80). The majority of theses photographs arise out of the Civil War but other smaller series relate to the aftermath of the Easter Rising and to the War of Independence. There are also other series of army portraits and of historical occasions photographs.

Minor Harbours of Ireland, an Irish Research Council-funded project by UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy, examines the evolution of maritime engineering in small harbours in Ireland from the seventeenth century to the present. This collection records the construction and evolution of a selection of these minor harbours and includes short historical descriptions, onsite LiDAR scans, photographic site surveys, and exhibition posters for each harbour.

This collection comprises the papers and correspondence of the Kevin Barry Memorial Committee. The Committee was formed to raise funds to create a memorial to Kevin Barry (20 January 1902–1 November 1920). Barry, a medical student at University College Dublin, was executed for his part in an ambush which resulted in the deaths of three British Army officers. The Committee commissioned Harry Clarke Stained Glass Limited to create a stained glass window dedicated to Kevin Barry and the other students and graduates of University College Dublin who lost their lives in the struggle for Irish Independence. The window, designed by Richard King, was erected in Earlsfort Terrace and unveiled on 1 November 1934. In 2010, the window was conserved, restored and relocated in the Charles Institute at Belfield, the current campus of University College Dublin.

The volume also contains a name index of prisoners with references to the pages containing details of the charge.
